Appoints
Kenneth Bloem to Board of Directors
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, March 31, 2004 – American TeleCare, Inc.
(ATI), a leader in telemedicine solutions, announced today that
Kenneth D. Bloem has joined its board of directors. Bloem
is an independent consultant, focused on healthcare, education
and small business ventures. He serves on the Board of Directors
of the Hamad Medical Corporation (the national health services
delivery system for the nation of Qatar) and several for-profit,
privately
held health companies in the United States. He is a member
of the American Hospital Association's Ad Hoc Committee on
Payment for Health Services and an Adjunct Associate Professor
of International Health at the Boston University School of Public
Health.
Bloem recently served as a Senior
Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Strategies,
and as Senior Fellow
for the
Association of Academic Health Centers. Prior to establishing
his consulting practice, Bloem was the CEO of Stanford University
Hospital, Georgetown University Medical Center and the Advisory Board
Company. He also held leadership positions at the University
of Chicago Hospitals and Boston University Medical Center. He
is a former Peace Corp Volunteer (Malawi and Congo) and epidemiologist
for the World Health Organization. He is a recipient of several
honors and awards, including the World Health Organization's "Order
of the Bifurcated Needle" for contributions to global smallpox
eradication. Bloem is a graduate of Calvin College (1968)
and holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the Harvard
School
of Public Health (1977).
